One of those cricketing coincidences, happened on Monday night at our 65th Birthday Celebration Dinner

“At the close of play on Monday, my daughter Sam Gardiner and I were leaving the room and were close by Chris Cowdrey. We said how much we’d enjoyed his speech, and Sam mentioned to him that whilst at Loughborough, she had been taught to bowl by fellow student Lizanne Denness  (daughter of Kent and England’s Mike). Chris’ father, the revered, Colin, Lord Cowdrey of Tonbridge, was Lizanne’s godfather. Chris is, however, still in touch with her. Next time he is in contact, he’ll pass on Sam’s regards.
