Darren became President in November 2023 following the death of Sir Michael Parkinson who had been President since 1991.

At the time of his appointment he is Managing Director of Yorkshire CCC having played and captained Yorkshire.

In his England career he took 229 Test Wickets in 58 Matches; 235 ODI Wickets in 159 Matches and 3 Wickets in 2 T201 Matches

Dorothy more commonly known as db, has been a member since around 1993 and been a committee member since about 2007. She was awarded the David Drabble New Year’s Honorary Life Membership in January 2022.

Originally, db edited the Year Book until Andy Pack, the professional editor, came in and took over in 2019.

She became Secretary, Treasurer and Events Organiser when David Drabble became ill in the summer of 2017 as well as keeping our social media up to date.

During 2020/21 Ali Saad took over the booking of Speakers and the Society was able to recruit new people to take on Treasurer,  Secretary and Event co-ordinator roles in 2022.

In February 2023 db became Vice-Chair and in September 2024 was voted Chair by the Committee, when David Longley resigned.

Andy is well known to many of you because of his work at Sheffield United FC as Media Manager  for many years. He came onto our Committee in 2019 – his first production then, but dated Year Book 2020

He became Vice-Chair in September 2024

David comes with a wealth of experience in business and a love of all sport.

He has been in sales for many years and more recently was General Manager at Atkinsons of Sheffield on the Moor. A new Manager has come in and David is now Purchasing Manager.

He is ready for new challenges and he brings energy and enthusiasm to the role.

Bob joined the Committee as our Events Coordinator in January 2022

Ali came onboard in 2020 and arranges our speakers and meeting dates. He visits lots of other societies to ensure he is on the ball with who is on the speaker circuit.

Brian is a Life Member and has been on the Committee for many years. He does an amazing job capturing all the images of speakers, at suppers and our Annual dinner.

Brian, together with Andy Jordan,  also looks after any Memorabilia that comes our way

Andy has been a Committeeman for quite a few years. He previously ran the 100 Club until we decided to stop doing it at the end of 2024.

Along with Brian Whitehead, he looks after any Memorabilia that the Society has, sometimes going to auction to raise funds for the Society.

Sid is a Sports Journalist and being of Indian origin, he loves his cricket. He is very enthusiastic about joining the Committee and helping the Society to develop further.

He is shortlisted for SJA Awards 2026 – quite an achievement, we are lucky to have him
