Yorkshire have handed out a new two-year contract to Finlay Bean on Wednesday, keeping the opener at Headingley until 2028. After making his first team debut in 2022, the 23-year-old went on to become a dependable force for the White Rose.
Bean has scored 2,422 runs with six centuries in 43 first-class matches. He made headlines with his brilliant knock of 224 against Nottinghamshire last year.
Showing versatility across formats, he scored 102* off 57 balls in the One Day Cup at Scarborough in August, shattering the record for Yorkshire’s fastest ever List A century.
With Adam Lyth as Bean’s opening partner at Headingley, the Yorkshire openers have added at least 50 runs for the first wicket on 27 occasions.
“I’m naturally delighted to be signing this new deal. My journey into professional cricket hasn’t always been straightforward, but the belief shown in me by Yorkshire and the coaches has played a huge role in helping me reach this point,” the southpaw said.
“The next couple of years are exciting – not just for me personally but for the team as a whole. We’re clear on what we want to achieve together and I’m really looking forward to seeing how far this group can go,” Bean concluded.
