After seven years as the Chair of Sheffield Cricket Lovers’ Society, David Longley has decided to stand down and hand his Gavel over to Dorothy Betts.
David became Deputy Chair in 2016 and within a very short space of time became Chairman in 2017. This coincided with our Founding Secretary, David Drabble becoming ill and having to sadly relinquish the duties which had been his life for 58 years. David lead the Committee in the difficult task of keeping the Society, not only alive but modernising it and keeping it going with energy.
Feeling that now is the right time for him to hand over the Gavel to Dorothy, David will be made a Vice-President of the Society at the AGM in February and from the ‘Back Benches’, along with his wife Sandra, who is also a keen Society Member, he will keep a watchful eye on things.
The Committee would like to place on record their thanks to David for his excellent service to the Society and wish him well in the future.
